Easter 2016 at Monkton Farleigh

When Monkton Farleigh decides to put on a show it always does so to great effect and such was the case  for our Easter Day service and Easter Egg hunt last Sunday.
Flowers at the Font
The floral arrangements which were displayed throughout the church were all most colourful and beautifully presented but special mention must be made of the representation of the cave from which Christ’s body had disappeared and the discovery by his followers, very simple in conception but extremely well constructed.
Jesus's Tomb
The service itself was as convincing as a piece of well choreographed theatre should be, with well read extracts from the bible, a short but compelling sermon, some hearty singing of popular Easter hymns by the congregation and a very sensitively sung version of “This Joyful Eastertide” by the Ladies singing group.
Do I Spy Easter Eggs?
Then came the important part of the morning, the Easter Egg hunt. Unfortunately the threat of inclement weather had reduced the number of youngsters in the church, but those who were there set off very enthusiastically in search of the egg stations and then returned to claim their prize. It goes without saying that  everyone was rewarded!
